Iron Spine no. 01
CNC-milled aluminum, polymer clay
15 × 20 × 50 cm
2025

In the work Iron Spine no.01, the artist explores the boundary zones between humans and technology with remarkable precision. The aluminum spine, fabricated through CNC processes and combined with organic polymer clay forms, speculates on possible future evolutionary forms of the human body.
The spine as a central motif is particularly revealing: its S-shaped curve enabled upright walking and thus becomes a symbol of a dialectical tension—an evolutionary triumph on the one hand, and a source of physical vulnerability on the other.
The artist draws on narratives from cyberpunk literature, which envision technological body modifications as transhumanist solutions. The use of aluminum reflects this ambivalence—despite its ideal physical properties, biological incompatibility remains an unresolved issue.
Iron Spine raises fundamental questions about the limits of human biology in an age of technological permeation. In this visionary work, a future perspective emerges in which the human appears as a continuously evolving, malleable being—a radical reconceptualization of human existence.
