Nexus: Making Connections Visible
Art in Architecture
2025
This public artwork was created for art in architecture and draws on neurons and synapses as its
central motif. As fundamental structures of the human nervous system, neurons and synapses
symbolize the ways in which knowledge and experience are interconnected—points at which ideas,
information, and learning converge. The work establishes a visual link between the biological
foundations of cognition and the principles of education.
The use of diverse materials reflects a variety of craftsmanship techniques, emphasizing
multiplicity and exchange. By combining traditional industrial materials with contemporary
fabrication processes, the work references the ongoing transformation of the Wedding district.
Once characterized as an industrial area, Wedding has evolved into a vibrant cultural
environment. This process of change is translated into a visual language and embedded in the
public outdoor space, making connections—both conceptual and spatial—visible.
